Make up on the ration.

Make-up was hard to come by during the Second World War but women were still encouraged to keep up appearances to help 'boost morale'. In this practical day class you will discover what these enterprising woman can teach us about using homemade make-up. Led by 1940s expert Cathy Guilder you will learn how to make simple cosmetics, a make-up remover, simple face cream and a de-stress soack for the bath.

This museum has as its centrepiece the magnificent Overlord Embroidery commissioned by Lord Dulverton of Batsford (1915-92) as a tribute to the sacrifice and heroism of those men and women who took part in Operation Overlord.
